IQUITOS ATTRACTIONS 

We recommend the tour in the Amazon Zone for those who have few time and who want to visit the Peruvian jungle and take advantage of the nice landscapes and the various ecosystems. You will also have the opportunity to practice Adventure Sports like, Rafting (level I – II) and Canopying. On the other hand, the Wildlife in the Amazon Zone is impressive. The main wildlife in the cultural area consists of minor mammals and birds. Hike into the pristine jungle to see the awesome and gigantic Lupuna Trees, the largest in the Amazon, or try early morning Bird watching, Canoeing, Night excursions in search of Caiman, and many other amazing nocturnal creatures. 

The Lodge has become home to a few orphaned jungle creatures such as Woolly monkeys and Saddle backed Tamarins that you may see climbing through the trees or roaming freely on the grounds. They also enjoy the company of humans a great deal! Along the riverbank you’ll find our hammock hut, and benches for relaxing and Bird watching, or glimpsing Morpho Butterflies flashing their blue iridescence as they cross the River, and disappear into the green forest. The intimate dining room is a gathering place for interesting travellers from all over the world.

YELLOW FEVER INOCULATION REQUERIMENTS 

Yellow fever inoculation is recommended for travel to Peruvian Jungle. Get your vaccine at least 10 days before your arrival. You must bring your yellow fever inoculation certificate with you to prove to the airport officials in Iquitos that you are vaccinated.

  • Payment Proceed: We require a US$200 per person deposit for all treks. The remaining balance must be paid before the starting date of the trek. You can pay the balance requesting the agent in charge of your account an invoice to be paid online with credit card or direct deposits.

Itinerary

  • Amazonas Sinchicuy Lodge,Our personnel will meet and greet you at the Airport.Transfer to the river dock where you will begin the trip to our lodge.Along the way you will briefly sightsee Iquitos, looking at the most important tourist sites of this representative Peru’s Easternmost city founded in the XIXth Century.
  • Navigate on the greatest river in the world, the Amazon, aboard comfortable and safe motorboats. The trip will allow you to see a marvellous panorama in which the magnificence of the Amazon makes its way through the exuberance of the jungle, where picturesque villages with their particular colour and joy appear on the shores of the River.
  • Arrival at the Amazonas Sinchicuy Lodge. Our Lodge built in the native style is surrounded by trees, plants and flowers, a true tropical garden where birds and butterflies are abundant. While your expert naturalist guide explains about the lodge facilities and the activities to come, our staff will serve you with a refreshing “welcome drink” made with some exotic fruit.It starts with a short walk or canoe ride -according to the rainy season- to a Yagua Native Community, one of the most ancient ethnic groups of the Amazon Rainforest. Here you will have the chance to try the “pucuna” or blowgun. Return to the Lodge. Lunch.In the afternoon you will proceed with an ethno botanic tour around the Lodge, you will be able to distinguish certain species of the plant kingdom. Visit to the “Shaman” who will explain about the particularities of the regional flora and its applications. Tour the Santa María del Ojeal farmlands where you will see the artisan sugar cane mill. You will also visit a fish farm to observe native fish species and walk around a typical village on the banks of the Amazon River. Lunch Also, if you desire, our personnel will share with you a time for music and singing.

  • Flora and Fauna Program Full day exploring the primary Jungle Reserve of the Yanayacu River ecosystem. Navigation in open boats on the Amazon River to spot Pink River Dolphins, main characters of fantastic tales and legends told by the River people. Arrival in the Huashalado Village from where you will make a short walk to the Yanayacu River, where another boat will be waiting to take you in this excursion. You will enter the “Kingdom of the Giant Trees”, which has been given this name because of the size reached by some specimens, among them the “Lupuna” or Ceiba.
  • This is a favourite site for birds since it is in the River where they find the fish and fruit that grows on its banks; even more, the thick forest offers ideal possibilities for nesting. With a bit of luck, you could also spot monkeys moving on the tree tops or maybe a sloth hanging from a branch and thus mimetising and making it almost impossible to be seen. Boxed lunch in the boat or on the bank of the River.Iquitos Tours, Amazonas Sinchicuy Lodge, Peru Tours Primary jungle hike by trail or canoe ride -according to the season- in which you will observe particularities of plants and trees from this ecosystem like the Victoria Regia, which reaches a 1.80 m. diameter. Return to the Amazonas Sinchicuy Lodge. On the way you will have the chance to do native style fishing of Piranhas, Mojarras and other species. Arrival in the Amazonas Sinchicuy Lodge. If you wish, there will be an evening canoe ride or if you decide not to you could comfortably sway on a hammock or enjoy an exotic drink at the “Clavohuasca Bar”. Supper. Overnight.

Recommendations

  • Trekking day pack with a change of clothes for the whole period of the trek.
  • Rain gear (jacket and pants if available) or rain poncho.
  • Strong footwear, waterproof trekking boots recommended. 
  • Sandals or plastic slip on thongs are also good to give your feet a chance to breath 
  • Warm clothes, including jacket, fleeces, gloves, scarf. Thermal clothing is also recommended, especially for sleeping.
  • Sleeping bag (we can hire these to you)
  • Torch/ Flashlight and spare batteries
  • Camera, films and batteries (batteries consume more quickly under cold conditions)
  • Hat or cap to protect you from the sun, rain and cold
